Living with change…
Nothing is worth it if you are not happy. - Unknown
Maybe it’s the season - upcoming election, Thanksgiving, the holidays - that has change prominently on my mind.
I am going back to the treasure trove of books to find some previously identified gems for inspiration, and I’m drawn back to The Obstacle is the Way.
Like it or love it, change is inevitable and necessary in all areas of life. Change is especially important in careers when your purpose no longer feels met, or your intuition says it is time to move on.
Change is not easy, so how do you navigate it successfully?
First, evaluate and identify why you are no longer drawn to what you are doing or where you are. Understanding is no longer being met can help clarify what is missing that you need to be fulfilled.
Second, expand your network. When we have been in an industry or job for a long time all we know is what we know. In planning for a change, intentionally connect with those that are in roles that you want to know more about. At first it could be uncomfortable, but connecting with those who speak passionately about what you also enjoy will ignite that spark in you.
Finally, craft your story. Successful changes come with well told stories of experiences and aligning purposes. You bring value to the spaces you hold, you just have to clarify for your audience how your story fits with where their story is headed. Engage with your why, their why, and how you bring value to what their mission/vision is for the present and future.
Living a fulfilling life is not void of change, it is done by embracing change and using happiness as your North Star.
You’ve got this!
Take care Team,
