Just be you…
“Just be yourself, let people see the real, imperfect, flawed, quirky, weird, beautiful, magical person you are.” - Mandy Hale
So much of what we face is constructed with the intent of being perfect - our appearance, relationships, careers. Living to another’s definition and expectations binds us to being half as great because we are not being ourselves.
To truly appreciate life and the gifts you bring to it means living your full and complete self.
“But Eddie, I don’t know who I am”…
I’ve actually heard this more than once, and it is heartbreaking. The personal desire to fulfill the dreams of others can keep us living well beneath the amazing person we truly are! Take time and connect with what you love, where your need or want for outside validation comes from, and find positive ways to affirm who you truly are at your core.
In high school, I embraced Dennis Rodman as one of the most authentic people I’d seen in a public space. I even painted my nails (that was all I could afford to do at the time). He didn’t live to be pleasing to others, he lived to be free of their burdens. Whether perceived as a gimmick or attention-seeking at the time, it hasn’t seemed like he changed much, and that is the point - Show up, ALWAYS, as yourself.
Those who will and want to embrace YOU will do so. Those that don’t stay weren’t meant for you. Stop seeking validation from other people, your job title, the car you drive, where you went to school (and with who), or the amount of money you make. At the end of the day none of that matters. YOU and what you bring to life is what matters most.
Find where YOU are inside, and live that outwardly more often.
Team, you know I love you for the person you are and hope to become. I am here to help you become your best and truest self - when you are ready. Until then, know that I am here for you.
Take care…
